Whose Hands are Old?

We come from a combined extensive history of family farming, gardening, and nature education. In other words, we’re old farm hands. Also, all those years of sun and soil have left our hands looking, well…old.

As long time educators, both in and out of the classroom, we knew there was a better way to capture hearts, minds, and interests of young learners by getting kids off the screens and into the sun. Old Hands Farm is the fruit of a seed planted in our hearts long ago.

Hi, I’m Vanessa! I am a certified clinical herbalist and certified Waldorf grades teacher. Hailing from the land of The Meadows (Las Vegas), I became interested very early on in “green stuff!" My travels and interests led me to biodynamics, permaculture, herbalism, and water conservation, and I discovered a passion for teaching what I learned to my community. I founded a garden education nonprofit, and after 8 years of incredibly fulfilling work with that, as well as deepening my experience in the classroom through the lens of Waldorf education, I decided to step into the creation of a long-time vision to connect the pieces.

Hi, I’m Brandon! Nomnomnomnom! Ahh. Full! I hold a Colorado state teaching license with an emphasis on teaching reading. I grew up in Nebraska spending summers driving tractors and autumns hunting learning how to hold reverence for the land and animals. From then on, my passion for preserving wild spaces wove a thread of advocacy through my life. Meanwhile, a second thread was pulling my focus towards teaching. Coaching soccer and rock climbing lead me to pursue a degree in education. I’ve taught a variety of ages over the last 11 years as a professional educator. Both threads have guided me to a long-time vision to connect the pieces.
